MakeChange ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
01Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Name and email address (via Sign in with Apple or email)
- Financial data you enter: income, expenses, bills, subscriptions, goals, and calendar events
- Onboarding preferences (spending friction, savings priorities, financial goals)
- Questions you ask the AI assistant, along with the budget context needed to answer them
- Purchase information: your App Store transaction ID and subscription status, used to verify Premium access. We never see your payment card details.
- Referral codes you share or redeem, so we can apply referral rewards
Information collected automatically:
- App usage events and crash reports (used only for diagnosing bugs)
- Device type and OS version for compatibility purposes
02How We Use Your Information
- To provide and personalize the MakeChange experience
- To generate AI-powered financial insights via the assistant
- To send bill reminders and streak notifications (if enabled)
- To maintain your account and subscription status, including account emails such as sign-up confirmations and password resets
- To diagnose crashes and improve app stability
03Third-Party Services
MakeChange uses the following services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Apple Sign In — authentication. Apple may share an anonymized user identifier and, optionally, name and email. Apple Privacy Policy →
- Supabase — secure cloud database for account data and financial entries. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Supabase Privacy Policy →
- Resend — delivers account emails such as sign-up confirmations and password resets. Resend receives your email address and the content of those emails. Resend Privacy Policy →
- ImprovMX — forwards messages you send to support@getmakechange.com to our support inbox. ImprovMX Privacy Policy →
- Google Gemini — powers the AI assistant. Your question and relevant financial context are sent to Google's Gemini API when you use this feature. Google does not use API data to train models by default. Google Privacy Policy →
- Apple App Store — processes all purchases and subscriptions. We check your transaction ID with Apple to confirm your Premium status. Apple Privacy Policy →
04Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on Supabase's infrastructure using TLS in transit and AES-256 at rest. App preferences and session data are also cached locally on your device.
No system is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong Apple ID password and keep your device software updated.
05Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (Settings → Delete Account), all personal data and financial entries are permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days.
06Your Rights
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — update inaccurate information via the Profile screen
- Deletion — delete your account and all data at any time from Settings → Delete Account
- Portability — request an export of your data by contacting us

07Children's Privacy
MakeChange is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us immediately.
08Our Website
This section covers getmakechange.com.
- No cookies or tracking. The website doesn't use cookies, analytics, advertising pixels, or any other tracking. Fonts, images, and scripts are served from our own site.
- Early access form. If you fill it out, we store your answers (name, email, and survey responses) in Supabase. We use them only to improve MakeChange and, if you opt in, to email you updates. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe.
- Hosting. Our host, Netlify, processes standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site. Netlify Privacy Policy →
09Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, via in-app notification.
